Are iCloud Shared Albums safe? What Apple's own pages say

Who can see a Shared Album
Subscribers you invite, on an Apple device or iCloud for Windows. With “Public Website” turned on, anyone with the address can view — view only — in an up-to-date browser, with no account.
What Apple says about encryption
Shared Albums are one of the iCloud categories that don’t support Advanced Data Protection. Your own library can be end-to-end encrypted; the shared copy can’t. That is the difference between “Apple says it doesn’t look” and “Apple can’t look”.
AI, ads and the label
Face recognition and scene analysis are “on-device machine learning” — on the phone, not on Apple’s servers. No advertising in the Photos app. Photos ships with iOS, so there is no separate App Store privacy label to quote; Apple’s Photos privacy notice is the statement.
The files
“When shared, photos are reduced to 2048 pixels on the long edge”; video is “delivered at up to 720p resolution”. Your originals stay in your own library, and what subscribers can save from the shared album is the reduced copy.

Are iCloud Shared Albums end-to-end encrypted?
No. Apple’s own support page says Shared Albums ‘do not support Advanced Data Protection’, so they sit outside Apple’s end-to-end encryption and Apple holds the keys.
